MODULE 07
Final Screening and Wrap Up Discussion
Tonight we watch what you made and talk about it. Everyone stays in one room for the whole session. This page is short on purpose — the working surface of the evening is the shared feedback document, and that is what will be on screen.
The feedback document
One numbered section per project, plus the running order. Write into it while others are being screened. Four minutes of live discussion is not much — what you write there is how the rest of your response reaches the author.
Open this first
- Feedback document — running order and comments
- The same link is in tonight's email and in the Zoom chat
- Sign what you write with your name
Be concrete. Name the second, the frame, the sentence. Where did you lose the thread, what did you not need, what is the strongest ten seconds and why, where does the piece answer How do wars end? and where does it stop answering it.
Where this sits
Creator's workflow
- Idea and the topic
- Research to collect and verify materials
- Decide how to present the document
- Write a screenplay and record the voiceover
- Assemble the visuals with tools that fit you
- Polish: subtitles, visual effects, sound design
- Pre-publishing screening and evaluation — you are here

Seven modules ago the question was which document you would put at the centre of your piece. Tonight that answer is on screen, in the form it reached by 18:00 today — a finished cut for some, a storyboard or a set of materials for others. Both are shown, both are discussed.
Tonight
Run of show
| 18:00 | Opening — what tonight is, and what it is not |
| 18:05 | Screening and discussion, first half |
| 18:57 | Break, 7 minutes |
| 19:04 | Screening and discussion, second half |
| 19:41 | What happens next, close |
The running order is in the feedback document and goes on screen at 18:05. It stays provisional until 18:00, because it depends on what arrives. Everything plays from one machine — nobody screen-shares.
How the discussion runs
Staying in one room for two hours only works if the shape is fixed. It is the same for everyone, and the time is kept by someone whose only job is to keep it.
- Screening
- up to 2:30. No introduction — the running order carries your one-line description
- Your question
- 20 sec. The one sentence you submitted, read out by you
- First tutor
- 80 sec
- Respondent
- 1 to 2 min. One participant, assigned in advance
- Second tutor
- 60 sec, only if there is something to add
- Author
- 20 sec. What you take from it
Two things this asks of you
- You comment on exactly one other project — the one presented immediately before yours. Watch that work closely
- You write in the feedback document while others present. Anything that does not fit the live discussion reaches the author in writing
Projects still at idea stage are not screened. Their authors state the focus, ask their question and get an answer from a tutor — and they are asked to write into every section of the document instead of taking a respondent slot.
What happens next
Tonight is not an assessment. We watch and we discuss, with the two criteria from Module 05 in mind, but nothing is scored — not out loud, not in the sheet.
The two criteria, as a frame and not a scoreboard
| Feasibility | whether the project can be made in a room in six days — detail of the concept, presence of a storyline, amount of material actually gathered |
| Relevance | whether the chosen focus answers How do wars end? and can be defended as answering it |
The sixteen places for the Berlin workshop are decided by Museum Berlin-Karlshorst after this session, on the basis of what was submitted today. The places are individual, not per group, and each of you hears the result individually.
Two things stay open after tonight. The feedback document — comments written later still reach the authors. And your list of sources, which is the one part of the work nobody but you can complete.
